A recent article from March 13, 2025 edition of The Villages Daily Sun listed things they are number 1 in based on 2024 Census estimates. It states The Villages are number 1 in new residents, senior living, recreation, public safety, veterans, income growth, giving, and voting. We wanted to share some highlights. Sumter County had 72% of voters cast their ballot early in the 2024 presidential election, placing Sumter County in the number 1 spot for the early voting turnout rate in Florida. There is a higher percentage of Vietnam War-era and World War II veterans living in The Villages metropolitan statistical area than any other US MSA. One in seven Villagers are veterans. Sumter County ranks as the second fastest-growing Florida county. The top 5 fastest growing metropolitan statistical areas in the US are (1) The Villages, (2) Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, (3) Lakeland, (4) St. George, Utah, and (5) Ocala.
The median sale price of a single-family home in Sumter County in February 2025 was $369,995, compared to $387,450 in February 2024. The average sale price in February 2025 was $424,681, a decrease from $432,561 in February 2024. The median time to contract in February 2025 was 58 days and the median time to sale was 100 days, which is just about the same as last year. The February 2025 months supply of inventory has reached 5.4. The benchmark for a balanced market is 5.5 months of inventory. We are closing in on a market that favors neither buyer nor seller.
Danny has been awarded the 2024 Robert C. Meeks, ALC Distinguished Service Award. This is one of Realtor Land Institute’s most prestigious awards. It is a national award. This is the 25th year of the awards, and Danny is only the 3rd winner from the state of Florida. This award is presented to an RLI member in recognition of long-term commitment and service to fellow Institute members, the land profession, and their community. The Distinguished Service Award is presented in honor of dedicated long-time member Robert C. Meeks, ALC.
